Message of Director General
It is my great honor to address you as the Director General of our Government Food Sector organization. Our institution plays a vital role in ensuring food security, promoting nutrition, and supporting sustainable agro-processing development for the benefit of our nation. We are committed to strengthening the entire food value chain—from research and innovation to processing, quality assurance, and market access—so that our citizens have reliable access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food products.
In today’s rapidly changing environment, the food sector must continuously adapt to emerging challenges such as population growth, climate change, and evolving consumer demands. To address these challenges, we are placing strong emphasis on research and development, technological innovation, and capacity building across all sub-sectors, including cereals, beverages, coffee and tea, and food biotechnology. Our goal is to enhance productivity, improve quality standards, and increase value addition while ensuring environmental sustainability.
We recognize that collaboration is key to achieving our objectives. Therefore, we are actively working with government institutions, private sector partners, research organizations, and international stakeholders to build a resilient and competitive food industry. Through these partnerships, we aim to create opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and export expansion.
As we move forward, we remain dedicated to transparency, accountability, and excellence in service delivery. I encourage all stakeholders to continue their support and engagement as we work together to strengthen our food systems and improve the livelihoods of our people.
In addition, we are prioritizing the empowerment of smallholder farmers, youth, and women by enhancing access to technology, finance, and market opportunities within the food sector.
