Core roles and responsibilities of the institute

  • 1 Formulate policies, strategies and action plans that assist in the acceleration of the development of the food and beverage industry and implement the same upon approved by the government.
  • 2 Identify through research and development relevant technologies applicable to the development of the food and beverage industry; perform production process and product development activities on new and traditional products and transfer these technologies to the industry and support them to enter the market; and assist the industry to establish research and development units.
  • 3 Conduct study and research activities including market research; assist industry promotion locally and internationally and work with stakeholders for effective marketing systems.
  • 4 Collect, analyze and organize technological and market data and disseminate it as necessary.
  • 5 Prepare project profiles, support investment expansion, assist implementation, and solve bottlenecks in the industry.
  • 6 Assist investors with technology selection, negotiation, construction, erection and commissioning.
  • 7 Provide practical training programs in technology, marketing, management and other relevant areas.
  • 8 Provide consultancy services, support laboratories, ensure quality assurance, and assist certification for global competitiveness.
  • 9 Build institutional capacity to international standards and collaborate with local and international organizations.
  • 10 Work with universities and training centers to develop human resources and conduct joint research.
  • 11 Undertake international benchmarking and promote best practices in the industry.
  • 12 Support value chain development and ensure strong linkages from raw materials to global markets.
  • 13 Promote development of industry zones and support investors operating within them.
  • 14 Establish entrepreneurship programs and incubation centers.
  • 15 Support packaging industry development to enhance competitiveness.
  • 16 Support acquisition of intellectual property rights and patents.
  • 17 Promote renewable energy use and environmentally friendly practices.
  • 18 Promote post-harvest technologies, cold chain systems, and logistics improvements.
  • 19 Support industry associations to strengthen trade and investment promotion.
  • 20 Charge service fees as approved by the government.
  • 21 Own property, enter contracts, sue and be sued.
  • 22 Perform other related activities necessary to achieve objectives.
